People are particular about one thing, their own personal space. Personal space is basically how close you can go near any person without the other person feeling crowded. It’s the invisible circle around a person in which he/ she feels comfortable and secure.It’s important to maintain this distance. In America, this distance is a bit more than other cultures.
Usually an arm’s length is a good indicator. While speaking to someone, if you think the person is getting uncomfortable, back off a bit. If you see someone else is backing off while talking to you, don’t try to go close.
In crowded places like elevator, concerts, games, due to space restrains, the personal space is very little. In other places where it’s not crowded, maintain the distance.
